1 large can stewed tomatoes (1 lb 12 oz can) blend in blender
1 large can tomato paste ( 12 oz)
1 tablespoon crushed oregano
1 tablespoon crushed basil
1 bay leaf
2 garlic cloves minced and sauteed (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder)
1 1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
Combine all ingredients in heavy pan & bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Makes 1 quart plus a little. Can be frozen
