2 pkg yeast
1 Tablespoons sugar
Dissolve in 1/3 cup lukewarm water. Set aside.
Mix in a large bowl:
1 1/2 cup hot water (not boiling)
3 or 4 eggs
Then mix in
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons nutmeg (or zest of l orange peel)
Then stir in yeast and 5-6 cups flour and mix well. Let rise (about 1 hour depending on room temperature)
Roll out dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch and cut with doughnut cutter. Set cut dough aside and let rise again.
(takes about 45 min.) Fry in hot grease.
Glaze with frosting or sprinkle with sugar.
